The Tamamo Nine
- History:
- The Tamamo Nine are each derived from a single tale revolving around the traditional japanese folklore of kitsune. Fox Spirits of all kinds used to exist, until rendered lost to time. In today's world, only two are known to exist, Kurama, and Tamamo. Born as Mizukume, she herself used to serve ancient deities, such as Amaterasu herself, until they too were forgotten by the people who once worshipped them. Over time, she would grow from the appearance of a human girl named Mizukume into her fox-born nature. Somewhere in that time, she fell in love with the first Tsuchikage. Despite the fact that she knew she was not human, she accepted this as a sign. It was not meant to be, however. The First Tsuchikage did accept her as a betrothed wife, but did not live past the first night of their marriage. This shock split Tamamo into nine, each keeping a part of her original kitsune heritage, and each possessing one tail. Only Tamamo-no-Mae remembers the past life, though she does not enjoy recounting it. The others contain bits of fragments of her original persona, from her playfulness, to her desire to fight, strange qualities, bits of laziness, and more.
Enter the current Tsuchikage, Momiji, who entered the high mountains as a Jonin, in search of something different. He would often ponder what secrets were hidden there, as no one else dared to venture up to such heights. He was rewarded with the presence of the nine, during which time Tamamo-no-Mae took a humanoid form. She spoke to him. "You. You are not of the Tsuchikage's bloodline, yet you dare set foot up here? I could eat you, on account of your foolishness." Looking at the bones that lay around, she chuckled. "Though I doubt that would send any more a message. It seems some never learn. You do, however possess a gleam in your eyes that I wish I had seen in the First Tsuchikage. He often gleamed with life, but he never seemed to display any sign of restraint. I think that was what took his life." She walked over to the still-young boy, and caressed his face, looking into the eyes that showed only minor fear. "Interesting, you seem capable. Your body resists the natural draw of energy that I possess. Though you are afraid, you stand here, willing to explore the secret that so many are afraid to see. Very well. I will go with you." In that instance, she threw up her hand, and each of the Tamamo, originally draped in their own ornamental clothing shed it, for the appearance of foxes, white as the moon. Momiji, shocked and awed by all of this, smiled and grinned, for a multitude of reasons. He was happy for one, that he possessed knowledge that no one else did,and for another, had more power with this brood. The mischief that was naturally occuring to him resonated with the kitsune. He turned to them saying "I ask but one simple request. Make a contract with me, and I will hide you from the eyes of those who are unfit to know you. You will serve me, yes, but I will also serve you. Others will know us both only in appearance, none by name. They will fear us, and yet be entranced. Take my blood, so that we may be bound together." In turn, the lead Tamamo grinned with the feral jaw that this form gave her. She leapt out to the arm of Momiji Ninko, and bit it, letting the blood drip into the earth. "We accept your proposal. I do however expect all of you in your devotion. Allow us that much, and we are yours.The Nine dissolved in wisps of smoke, and when the smoke cleared, all that remained was a seal left behind, on the left arm, where Tamamo-no-Mae had bitten him. It is said that Tamamo-no-Mae resides in that very spot, high in the ice-capped peaks of Iwagakure,
only leaving as part of her summoning contract with Momiji Ninko.

Description: When summoned, Tamamo-no-Mae appears as the largest of the nine. She is the leader of the nine, capable of issuing commands to the others if need be. Her primary skill is a protective shield, composed of raw chakra. This can be used once every three posts. Her secondary skill is to project a concentrated beam of natural energy. This blast dissolves her as a summon, but her essence can still be used as a gateway to Sage Mode. Aside from those abilities, she's very capable of physical combat.

Her coat is also notably reflective, capable of knocking away certain types of energy.

She also serves as a subservient to Tamamo-no-Mae, fully capable of issuing commands to the other foxes.

Description: Despite being rather childish and unruly, this fox proves to be an asset when acting in the interests of her master. When summoned and given command, she acts quickly, pouncing on the designated target and attacking them with bites and swipes of the paw. This is done relentlessly, seeing as once a target is chosen, she does not let up. She will even use her tail to bind them if necessary.

Description: This fox is rather lazy, and while that's a terrible thing to be in combat, it has its uses. Usually the first fox to be summoned, this one naps while combat is taking place, internally generating energy. When touched by the master, her soft fur pulses chakra into the body, healing slight wounds in seconds. Major cuts and above will not be affected. Alternatively, if a non allied target attempts this, the offender is burned with hostile chakra pulses.
